When it comes to making a whole lot of nothing into a whole lot of something, it’s safe to say that Kiwis take the pav on this.
Let’s take the Number 8 Wire for example – which was quite simply a gauge of steel wire, most commonly used in rural fencing for sheep. As time went on, Kiwi ingenuity took over and it was used for everything from make-shift coat hangers to hanging hooks around the house.
Through this humble beginning, the phrase “Number 8 Wire” has gone on to represent both Kiwi ingenuity and resourcefulness; a can-do attitude and the ability to always think laterally to solve a common problem.
It was from this attitude that our friends over at Mercury became the proud new parents of Evie - New Zealand’s newest electric vehicle, epitomising what happens when Kiwi ingenuity and a whole lot of yellow come together.
Have a look below at what when in to the making of Evie and her grand debut across all our screens.
